Working as a beach lifeguard really opened my eyes to how severe the obesity problem is in England. In areas of Britain where childhood obesity is at its highest Jamie Oliver’s healthy menu is being rejected and ‘junk-food’ packed lunches are the source of poor dietary habits. Many children survive purely on convenience food and do not eat any fruit at all.
‘Fruit Boost’ aims to change younger children’s perceptions of what they eat by creating an exciting and empowering learning experience that enables them to design and make their own smoothies from scratch. The service has been designed so that it can visit schools around the country therefore taking the strain off teachers to create healthy lesson plans.
